The Long Red/Pink Week

On our way home from Canada I realized I had pink eye...that turned into red eyes. After the first eye drops caused an allergic reaction and I looked and felt even worse I went to the doctor a second time Monday night looking like Halloween came early. After the drops were swapped and another visit to the doctor Tuesday my eyes slowly started to resemble eyes again. Needless to say, my eyes have had a rough week and since I was highly contagious so have my hands (so dry from all the hand washing). Unfortunately I missed Brown Eyes and MoCo's birthday too...but we get to have a princess party tomorrow for them!
To add to our excitement, a huge boulder came crashing into our windshield on the way to the doctor. I thought for sure it was coming through the window. My poor mom was a champ holding onto the wheel with both hands. It sounded like a gun had went off inside the car.
And then it snowed...not really thrilled about this.
And since my glasses keep falling off my face I decided to duct tape them to my forehead after almost a week of annoyance. Am I geek? Yes. Am I planning on wearing the duct tape to church tomorrow? Yes. Is Geek the new sheek? Yes!

Canada: Visiting The Canadians We Call Family

This past weekend we made a mad dash to Canada to see some of my favorite family members (I am serious...these Canadians are crazy and funny). Kassie Jo was sealed to Uncle Rod and Aunt Ann...now she's stuck with us forever! It was a beautiful day. Thanks for letting us come!

 (I'm taller than Kassie Jo)
When we arrived we participated in what I consider a truly Canadian event...watching Hockey! My cousin's son played hockey Friday night and it was a blast to watch. For a bunch 12 year old kids there sure was a lot of body checking. Our cousin was in the penalty box three times and another kid got ejected...it was glorious to watch.

Our very first stop was boot shopping. I've been coveting Kassie Jo's boots for over two years now and so Uncle Rod promised to take me to find my own. They are beautiful! And Poncho is excited that his granddaughter now has boots to ride horses.

Saturday afternoon we also got to watch my other cousin's son play soccer (indoor). In the words of Laura, soccer is a gentleman's sport in Canada...at least compared to hockey. I'm sure if we could have stayed longer we would have watched all the little cousins play in sporting events and/or dance.

While visiting I recorded a few one liners from Uncle Rod. This man is hilarious! I just love listening to him because you know some gem is bound to come out.
Here are a couple:
Why do we have to be reverent in church? Because people are sleeping.
Go the extra mile, it's not crowded there.
And my favorite: You must be a redneck if you think fast food is hitting a deer at 60 mph.

Also, they have this little gem in the bathroom at their home:
 Pure Truth right there.

House Update: Countertops! FINALLY

After months of heartbreak (having my contractors tell me time and time again after each piece of blue granite and quartz I chose was unavailable), finally we found some blue pieces that would work! Lesson to everyone...if you are persistent (and stubborn enough) you can get some things you want in your house.

My master bath is by far my favorite right now.

Life Lately According To My iPhone

Brown Eyes master a new way to use chop-sticks.
Poncho Villa or should I call him Alfalfa?
Wicked hail storm on the dry farms
Not only did I get my hair cut this week but Averina also became my new stylist.
