Princess Bride - First Time Ever - Is that a Sin?

Last week we went to the Redwood City movie in the Square along with some delicious Wendy's! The movie: Princess Bride. That is right, I had NEVER seen this movie before in my life and yes I still survived up to this point. My friends gave me the look of horror to think that I passed through life without seeing this cheesy, dramatic piece of cinema before now.

Prius Update

The new "slug-bug" game without sore arms and thighs! I try my hardest to end on an odd number every time. My friend, Craig, says I am odd. My response: Of course I am!

After a whole week of not seeing a single Sea Foam Green Prius (which are worth 2 points due to the scarcity of their typical spotting) they appeared like zombies coming at the end of the world on Tuesday. They heard the call to emerge and now they are overtaking the car population, well right after the Blue Prius (which are like locus)! Four Sea Foam Green Priuses last Tuesday after work, two Wednesday morning, two on the way to church today.

Tuesday night was a very fruitful Prius counting evening: 33!!! My all time high thus far. My all time low came on my way to work Friday morning, only three. The Prius population must be on the 9/80 work week schedule (the only real explanation of course).

Memories---Help with my life history!

Here are the directions

1. As a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot, anything you remember!

2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you. If you don't want to play on your blog, or if you don't have a blog, I'll leave my memory of you in my comments.

Might be your only chance to speak your mind about me. :)

MINT CHIP SHAKES

I heart Mint Chip ice cream and especially Mint Chip Shakes! My Dad makes the best Mint Chip Shakes! This week I've had three Mint Chip Shakes (no worries, I workout every day). They weren't as good as Dad's but it did hit the spot after golfing and I credit part of my inspiration on Sunday morning to the cool refreshing shake I savored for breakfast. Yes I lead a rebellious life, ice cream for breakfast. Good thing my Mom was several states away. ;) Finally, as I sit blogging after a third Mint Chip shake I am relaxed and have a content smile across my lips. I truly do heart Mint Chip shakes!

Lucky 7 Comes Through Again!

In my Google calendar where I typically put events such as July 16th (Jared's B-day), on July 17th I put "One of the greatest days of the YEAR!". The 17th day of the 7th month! As I was driving from Melville to Park Place (listening to "Under Pressure" by Queen & David Bowie) after discussing wonderful tender mercies with my friend, KT, I counted 17 Toyota Priuses on the 17th day of the 7th month (A game I've started playing in PA after my Berkeley Boys told me about their all time record of 38 Priuses in a three mile stretch. What a tender mercy that was, once again allowing my Lucky 7 to shine! July 17th is truly "One of the greatest days of the YEAR!". Tender mercies come in all different sizes, shapes, and flavors but nevertheless they are tender! :)

Peter Finlayson = AMAZING

Now while this guy pulls off the Zoolander pose so nicely there is definitely more substance to Peter Finlayson! My friend, Peter, is currently in a play at Stanford called Translations. I went last night and it was great. I was seriously impressed (then again it is Pete). :) Months ago when Peter told me about the play I made some smart remark about making a poster and being on the front row cheering him on. True to my word I made a very cheesy and bright poster (see below). Every now and then I like to post about someone that has made my life better. Today that is Peter, a long overdue post. I met Peter when our good friend, Karren, "assigned" me to attend Ward Missionary Correlation meeting as the Relief Society Presidency rep. I was a bit skeptical at first of the efficiency of these meetings but within weeks I quickly caught the vision and started to realize what a powerful example and friend Peter was and would continue to be. I willingly took on the title of PF's Admin.

I would like to point out a few things about Peter. He is constantly quoting and more importantly LIVING 1 Peter 3:15 which states "But asanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give ban answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the chope that is in you with dmeekness and efear:" I can hear his tag line "Live, Love, Share" as I type! I have had a front row seat watching as someone gives so freely of his love, time, and service. Peter is a true and consistent friend (even in the mist of struggles) that I have been privileged to have. If there is anything I've learned from Peter that is worth sharing it is that Lord does change our hearts and that he blesses us through His children. I have quoted Elder Wirthlin before but it is worth quoting again.
“Sometimes the greatest love is not found in the dramatic scenes that poets and writers immortalize. Often, the greatest manifestations of love are the simple acts of kindness and caring we extend to those we meet along the path of life.” Thanks PF!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA!

Emily, Heather, Mike, Meredith, Jess in our ridiculous July 4th hats that Emily so proudly purchased for us to wear to celebrate the most glorious American holiday. My buddy Robscott even made me a nice rare steak (which in a nutshell is the way to my good side for life (hint, hint)!!!BBQ and Explosions: could a holiday get any better? I think I can answer that with one word: NOPE!

We looked so thrilled, don't we?
